Callaloo Cay announces the signing of a management agreement with renowned luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts paving the way towards the finest resort in the Caribbean-Waldorf Astoria Antigua. The announcement was made at the newly restored Clarence House during Antigua Sailing Week-wherein Callaloo Cay were among the main sponsors. Guests from around the world graced the occasion. This milestone moment reflects Callaloo Cays endeavour to deliver superior quality service and unparalleled luxury – setting new standards for excellence.

An exceptional panoramic view set the stage for the Callaloo Cay ground breaking event. Symbolizing the official start of work on the project was attended by a cross section of individuals representing the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, governmental departments, community representatives, and a large body of media practitioners. The moment was deemed celebratory.

Coming shortly after the last community consultation held in December, principals of Callaloo Cay stayed true to their agreement to convene an advisory body to address and discuss environmental concerns. The meeting included a site visit and a lengthy yet comprehensive explanation of mitigation measures by Trinidadian hydrologist Fazir Khan. At the conclusion of the meeting, there was a greater level of understanding of how the development would proceed. Representatives of the department of the environment and the Development Control authority came in their numbers and added great depth to the discussion.

Callaloo Cay again demonstrated its commitment to youth and sports by its continued sponsorship of two sporting entities. A donation of USD$5000.00 was made to two of the Old Road Community’s youth and sports clubs. Representatives of the Old Road FC and the Callaloo Cay Young Lions said the donation will go towards providing equipment, refreshments, uniforms and continued development of the community’s youth. The initiative forms part of Callaloo Cay’s triple bottom line principle: people, planet and profit.

Fulfilling its promise to the people of the Old Road community and surroundings, principals of Callaloo Cay in December returned to meet with villagers, leaders and interested parties for a second consultation. The meeting sought to address environmental concerns and communicate plans related to the phases of development. Experts were on hand to add further support and clarity where required. As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that an environment advisory committee would be formed and that the members would be a cross representation of all stakeholders.

Callaloo Cay played the role of Platinum sponsor at the expo-style conference promoting Antigua and Barbuda as the ultimate destination of choice for both investment and tourism at the Palazzo Versace Dubai on October 8-9th. The invite-only event highlighted salient aspects of the islands – with a special focus on Callaloo Cay – and was attended by a high profile travel delegation from the twin islands including Prime Minister – Hon. Gaston Browne, Ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Casroy James, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Charles Fernandez, and Special Economic Envoy and Hollywood Icon – Robert Deniro.

Samantha Marshall, and Senator Colin James, and scores of youth turned out for the handover ceremony of the Old Road Sports complex.

Recently, members of the community came together to improve the aesthetic of the area by cleaning the Morris Bay beach. PM Gaston Browne, and FM Charles Max Fernandez participated in the effort as well. Callaloo Cay is leading the way in preserving, protecting, and embracing the natural environment while at the same time encouraging community participation; Camaraderie, teamwork and a feeling of pride for a job well done marked the day.

vor Jackson has conducted a comprehensive Environmental Impact Study (EIS) along with other consultants including geotechnical engineers, beach & coastal specialists and marine biologists. The development team is now adjusting their plans to accommodate the environmental sensitivities and to resolve some of the existing problems inherent on the site. “ At Callaloo Cay we are committed to make the planet better than we found it.”

We have recently commissioned an environmental impact study in Antigua to inform our planning and development with sound preservation principles from the very beginning. We are committed to ensuring sustainability for Antigua.
We will be cheering the local football club as the Callaloo Cay Young Lions sport our ‘shades of blue’ sportswear under our proud sponsorship.
Tenders have been issued to develop the sports field, adjacent to the Callaloo Cay site, into a multi-use modern day facility for all to enjoy. The community concept will incorporate tennis & basketball courts, cricket and volley ball nets and a football field for the local community.
